As Jordan and his companions were driving away from the party, Officer Roy Oliver fired shots into their vehicle, striking Jordan in the head and killing him instantly.
The initial police report claimed that the officers felt threatened by the car driving in their direction, but body camera footage later revealed that the vehicle was actually driving away from the officers when the shots were fired. This evidence led to the swift termination and arrest of Officer Oliver, who was charged with murder.
