According to the latest Forbes list of the world’s billionaires, there are 2,755 billionaires in the world. But less than 1% of them are black. And even though 2020 was marked by the COVID-19 pandemic that caused economic misery to so many, an extraordinary thing happened last year. The world got 493 brand new billionaires. That means that a new billionaire was being created every 17 hours and 39 minutes last year. But unfortunately, the black community only added one… Tyler Perry.
And although we want to recognize the disproportionate distribution of wealth even at the highest echelons of affluence, we published this video as a celebration of the 15 black billionaires that can be found in the four corners of the world. This distinguished list includes bi and multi-racial individuals with Black Ancestry who have a combined wealthy of almost $50 billion.
