Smiley described this trend as more spectacle than substance, emphasizing that Black Americans are far from a monolithic group and hold diverse views. Reflecting on historical complexities, Smiley shared his personal struggles during college coming to terms with the fact that Africans sold other Africans into slavery. This painful revelation highlighted the reality that people within any group can betray each other for personal gain, a parallel he drew to current Black celebrities endorsing Trump.
The conversation also covered the critical importance of Supreme Court appointments and how they shape the future of American jurisprudence. Smiley and Shawn Prez stressed the necessity of voters considering the long-term impact of such appointments on future generations.
