In a speech Robert F. Smith delivers to celebrate the opening of Grameen America’s first location in Atlanta, GA, he discusses generational wealth, the importance of Black female entrepreneurs and the barriers they face. Grameen America is a microfinance institution that is dedicated to helping low-income female entrepreneurs start or expand a small business.
During the speech, Smith also explains the work he is doing to help achieve racial equity, including his efforts with Southern Communities Initiative. Smith remarks that Grameen America is now a part of the Initiative’s mission to empower Black communities in the six Southern U.S. communities that it serves.
