Fisk University Alumni Making Waves in Various Industries

Fisk University, a historically Black university located in Nashville, Tennessee, has long been known for producing talented and successful alumni who have made significant impacts in various industries. From business and entertainment to politics and education, Fisk alumni are making waves and breaking barriers.

One notable alumna is Kimberly Bryant, founder and CEO of Black Girls Code, a nonprofit organization that aims to increase the number of women of color in the tech industry. Bryant, who graduated from Fisk in the 1980s, has been recognized for her work in empowering young girls to pursue careers in STEM fields. Through her organization, she has provided coding and technology education to thousands of young girls across the country.

In the entertainment industry, Fisk alumnus Warrington Hudlin has made a name for himself as a producer and director. Hudlin, who graduated from Fisk in the 1970s, has produced and directed numerous films and television shows, including the critically acclaimed movie “House Party.” He has also been a vocal advocate for diversity and inclusion in Hollywood, using his platform to push for greater representation of people of color in the industry.

In the field of politics, Fisk alumna Keisha Lance Bottoms has risen to prominence as the mayor of Atlanta, Georgia. Bottoms, who graduated from Fisk in the 1990s, made history as the second Black woman to be elected mayor of Atlanta. Since taking office, she has focused on issues such as affordable housing, economic development, and criminal justice reform, making her a respected leader in the city and beyond.

In the world of education, Fisk alumna Dr. Gloria McNeal is making a difference as the superintendent of Baltimore County Public Schools. McNeal, who graduated from Fisk in the 2000s, has been a champion for equity and excellence in education, working to ensure that all students have access to high-quality learning opportunities. Under her leadership, Baltimore County Public Schools have seen improvements in graduation rates and academic performance.

These are just a few examples of the many Fisk University alumni who are making waves in various industries. Whether they are creating innovative businesses, producing groundbreaking films, leading cities, or transforming education, Fisk alumni are leaving their mark and inspiring the next generation of leaders. As Fisk continues to empower and educate talented individuals, we can expect to see even more alumni making waves in the years to come.
